Singer Tables

A discarded sewing machine base and a rare piece of wood find each other and lead to a second table

This table was part of the Creative Wave exhibition, which took place in the Galway City Museum during the summer of 2016.

Cocobolo Top

I had saved this rare Cocobolo board for years until I was gifted this discarded cast iron sewing machine base. It was a challenge to marry up the divergent elements of these items, but I felt they would compliment each other.

Live Edge

Although currently popular, it can be a challenge to balance live edge material within a project. This top has mitred ends and underhung drawers.

Ebony, Yew, Maple & Brass

Yew drawers with an Arts & Crafts feel display proud finger joints, softened edges, Rippled Maple, Ebony, and Brass accents.

Ebony, Oak, Walnut & Brass

This second Singer Table has many of the same features contained in the original. Walnut is the predominant wood here.

Tapered Top Edge

This walnut top has a tapered shape, narrower at the ends than in the middle. This gives the beveled edge an interesting outline that catches the light.

Beveled Edge

The beveled edge of the walnut top adds a contemporary feel, but the drawers still add an Arts & Crafts quality.
