I love the feel of wood. I love the strength of seasoned oak, the flexibility of white ash, and the scent of Spanish cedar. The process of creating furniture begins for me, though, way before the point when I begin to sharpen my tools. It may commence weeks, or even months earlier, as I take my daily walk outside and the rhythm of my steps starts to quiet my mind, and images slowly take form. Or it might begin at night while I'm reclining in my worn Arts & Crafts red leather chair reading one of my books. But I love, too, the process of speaking with folks and helping them to bring their own imaginings into practical form. They, too, may be inspired by a vision that comes to mind while out in nature, or while reading a book. It is equally rewarding for me to assist them in the process of bringing their own unique images to life. What we have created together will most likely be with them for decades, if not longer. It is therefore important to take the time necessary to achieve the desired result.
