I’ve always liked this type of furniture, but sometimes it can appear visually heavy. I’ve adjusted some of the details to give this bookcase a lighter feel, while also allowing it to remain true to its roots.
Pegged through Tenons
Normally this detail would be square with sharp angles, however, I felt rounding this detail gave the piece a softer feel, which compliments the walnut.
Black Walnut
This wood is prized for its strength, grain, and beauty. It is a lovely wood to work with and softens the feel of this piece, which would traditionally be made of Oak.
